Maison Incense

Maison Incense is a French-based fragrance house founded by Philippe Constantin in 2013. Born in Cameroon to a French father and Moroccan mother, Constantin grew up in Casablanca before moving to France at 18 to study economics and international law. His career in perfumery was catalyzed by meeting perfumer Jean-Claude Gigodot, who became a major creative collaborator for the house. Maison Incense was created in tribute to Constantin’s father, Michel Constantin, and to a manuscript of leather paintings and stories about the fictional civilization of Artganis. In that imagined world, fragrance is the primary means of communication and the Incens family is its ruling house. The brand’s successive Artganis cycles move through endemic essences, the family’s settlement in Morocco, divinatory arts, and the hearts of significant earthly raw materials. Incense is the house’s defining fragrance family, with Cuir Erindil an early example of its smoky, leathery, resinous style, built around incense, myrrh, woods, and spices.
