Maison IRFÉ

Founded in Paris in 1924 by Prince Felix Youssoupoff and Princess Irina Romanova Youssoupoff, Maison IRFÉ takes its name from the founders’ first names. The house presented its first collection at the Ritz before the original fashion house ceased operating after the interwar period. Olga Sorokina encountered the IRFÉ story in a fashion-history book and reached an agreement in 2006 with Xenia Sphiris, a granddaughter of the founders, to relaunch the brand. Sorokina presented the revived house during Paris Haute Couture Week in July 2008 at the Palais de Tokyo. In 2016, she moved the brand’s base from Paris to New York and redefined its direction around couture and capsule evening-gown work; the house no longer produces prêt-à-porter. IRFÉ’s fragrance legacy reaches back to 1926, when it launched a line organized around four groups of women: blondes, brunettes, red-haired women, and silver-haired women. For its centenary in 2024, Sorokina introduced a five-fragrance collection linked to five female characters and the house’s couture identity, with bottles designed as miniature fashion figures.
