Maison Louis Marie

Founded in 2012 by Marie du Petit Thouars, Maison Louis Marie draws its name and botanical identity from her ancestor Louis Marie Aubert du Petit Thouars, a French botanical pioneer whose explorations of Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius involved collecting more than 2,000 plant specimens; the brand traces this family tradition to 1792. After working in fashion editing and fine-art fashion photography, Marie introduced the house with six scents inspired by its botanical history. The business began with candles before expanding into perfume oils, eau de parfums and body products in collaboration with her husband, Matthew Berkson. Reporting from 2025 and 2026 described Maison Louis Marie as fully independent and without outside investment. No.04 Bois de Balincourt is identified as the brand’s signature fragrance and is linked to the forest surrounding the family home at Balincourt.
