Maison Mona di Orio
Founded in 2004 by French perfumer Mona di Orio and Dutch designer Jeroen Oude Sogtoen, Maison Mona di Orio developed a Franco-Dutch structure, with its corporate base in Amsterdam and its creative work connected to Nice and Grasse. Di Orio trained with perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, including six years alongside him in his laboratory near Grasse. The house’s creative identity centered on a chiaroscuro approach, contrasting luminous elements with darker, denser materials. Les Nombres d’Or, launched in 2010, organized its compositions around a dominant material and became the house’s defining collection; early works included Cuir, Ambre, Musc, and Oud. After Di Orio died in December 2011 at age 42, Oude Sogtoen continued developing the brand. Perfumer Fredrik Dalman later became an important creative collaborator, working with Oude Sogtoen to extend its olfactory direction. In November 2024, Oude Sogtoen announced the closure of Maison Mona di Orio.
