Majda Bekkali

Born in Fez, Morocco, Majda Bekkali moved to Paris at 18 to study art history. Before founding her eponymous perfume house in 2009, she worked as an artistic director for perfume companies and spent about a decade studying perfume ingredients. Her creative language connects Moroccan heritage with a Parisian art-history background, drawing on memory, poetry, cultural references, and the tension between Eastern and Western influences. She develops fragrances with independent perfumers, first writing a poetic text and then translating its ideas into a formula. The house includes the Sculptures Olfactives and Andalus collections. Andalus draws on Toledo’s history of cultural coexistence, Mudéjar art, and the musician Ziryab; Tulaytulah opened the collection in 2015, while a 2026 account describes new presentations of Tulaytulah and Mudéjar. Atlas cedar recurs across Bekkali’s perfumes as a connection to her Moroccan childhood. Beyond perfumery, she founded the Métissages Association to support Amazigh women’s carpet weaving, cultural transmission, and assistance for weavers’ children.
