Malbec

Malbec is a men’s fragrance brand of O Boticário, the Brazilian beauty company founded by pharmacist Miguel Krigsner in Curitiba in 1977. Its concept emerged from Krigsner’s 2003 visit to Chilean wine cellars, where the scent of wine and oak barrels inspired a fragrance. Launched in 2004, the original Malbec was created by perfumer Napoleão Bastos using wine alcohol and maturation in French-oak barrels; its woody identity draws on wine and oak without reproducing a conventional wine-like smell. In 2010, Malbec remained associated with O Boticário as the company developed Grupo Boticário. In 2014, it was reported as one of the principal contributors to O Boticário’s first leadership of the Brazilian market, having reached ten years on the market. Malbec Signature, the brand’s first eau de parfum, was pre-launched in Dubai in September 2018, combining its olfactory signature with oud in collaboration with IFF. In 2026, Malbec Eau de Parfum was launched.
