Malin + Goetz

Founded in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin+Goetz began with six essential products designed for all skin types, including sensitive skin. The original skincare concept later broadened to include targeted treatments, fragrance, and candles. Its identity is grounded in an uncomplicated, less-is-more approach intended for all genders, skin types, and tones, expressed through a modern apothecary sensibility informed by Goetz’s marketing and design background and Malin’s beauty-industry experience. The plus sign evokes the apothecary concept and the founders’ balanced partnership, while reflecting the modern, minimalist character they intended for the name. Malin+Goetz attracted investment from Manzanita Capital in 2015; today, Manzanita Capital presents the brand in its portfolio, and the brand’s privacy policy identifies Manzanita US Investments LLC as its parent undertaking. In fragrance, Dark Rum is described as a signature and best-selling scent inspired by traditional bay rum and reinterpreted as dark and spicy. The Cannabis collection is also described as best-selling, with its fragrance characterized by a warm, fresh, unexpected profile.
