Fragrance house
Manufaktura
Manufaktura was founded in Prague in summer 1991 by architect Karel Němeček, initially as a shop for Czech folk crafts and wooden toys. After developing Czech glycerine soaps, the company evolved into cosmetics, with its fragrant herbal soaps going on sale in early 1998. The brand’s identity is rooted in Czech nature, local natural ingredients, traditions and history, expressed through fragrant cosmetics, artistic design, sustainability and a home-spa concept. In 2007, it introduced beer cosmetics made with Czech beer, brewer’s yeast and hops extract, and its beer shampoo became an iconic bestseller. In 2009, Manufaktura obtained Human Cosmetics Standard certification, now known as Leaping Bunny, from Cruelty Free International, and licensed the Little Mole character for children’s cosmetics. The 2021 Louka collection included an eau de toilette that held top positions in subsequent years and influenced development of the wider line.
