Marc O'Polo

Marc O’Polo was founded in Stockholm in 1967 by Swedes Rolf Lind and Göte Huss and American Jerry O. Sheets. Its first collection piece was a patchwork shirt made from hand-woven Indian cotton. The company entered the German market in 1968 after the founders met Werner Böck, who established Marc O’Polo Deutschland Vertriebs GmbH. In 1997, after Böck became majority shareholder, Marc O’Polo transferred its headquarters from Stockholm to Stephanskirchen, Germany. The company describes itself as owner-managed and identifies Böck as the majority shareholder of Marc O’Polo SE. Its identity draws on Scandinavian heritage and natural materials, while the apostrophe in its name represents individuality, originality and freedom to be oneself. For Fall/Winter 2021, Marc O’Polo relaunched its corporate design and product branding, revising its logo, monogram, typography, colours and labelling. In summer 2023, it announced a fragrance range developed with international fragrance experts and produced by Fragrances Essentielles, built around the three scents Sky, Rain and Wood.
