Fragrance house
Marcel Raffy
Marcel Raffy is documented as an early-20th-century perfume house, with Rapsodie recorded as its earliest fragrance edition, launched in 1919. The business operated in New York, where Raffy Parfums, Inc. appeared in a 1935 Federal Trade Commission annual report; earlier records identify Marcel and Charles Raffy as trading under that firm name. Its documented labels included Adam et Eve, Jasmin, Chypre, Encens Oriental, Futuris, and Nuit Blue, while the Federal Trade Commission found that the perfumes were composed in the United States rather than Paris. Available fragrance records place its releases between 1919 and 1930, including Gardenia Bleu from 1928 and Chypre from 1930; the listed fragrances are marked discontinued. A 1932 proceeding recorded that Marcel Raffy had been adjudicated bankrupt, his property sold, and he was no longer in business.
