Marcella Borghese

Marcella Borghese traces its origins to Princess Marcella Borghese’s personal interest in cosmetics: after marrying Prince Paolo Borghese, she began having products specially made for herself in 1937. Her partnership with Revlon founder Charles Revson, entered on October 16, 1957 and effective January 1, 1958, officially established the Borghese cosmetics line. The brand combined Italian beauty traditions with spa-based ingredients, including Tuscan mineral waters and healing mud; in 1985, it introduced Fango Active Mud for Face and Body, bringing that spa concept into an at-home treatment format. Revlon acquired the rights and interests associated with the Borghese names, trademarks, goodwill, family history, and crest in 1976, then sold the Princess Marcella Borghese business in January 1992 to Halston Borghese International, which acquired the businesses, trademarks, and licenses. Today, the house presents itself as Borghese, with an emphasis on Italian heritage, luxury skincare, natural integrity, botanicals, and spa-inspired beauty. Its fragrance legacy includes Il Bacio Eau de Parfum, launched in 1993 and identified in available fragrance references as the house’s famous fragrance.
