Mark Buxton

Founded in 2011 by perfumer Mark Buxton, Mark Buxton Perfumes emerged from his transition away from long-term work in mainstream fragrance toward independent and niche perfumery. Born in Derby and raised in Germany, Buxton studied at Haarmann & Reimer’s perfume school from 1985, moved to Paris in 1988, and later worked at Creations Aromatiques. His earlier career included collaborations with Givenchy, Versace, Van Cleef & Arpels, Paco Rabanne, Lagerfeld, Burberry, Cartier, Chopard and Ferré. The brand serves as a vehicle for Buxton’s own creative universe. In 2020, the Freedom Collection introduced a collaborative phase with perfumer David Chieze and drew on the musical theme of Queen’s “I Want to Break Free.” Buxton’s wider fragrance legacy includes creating Comme des Garçons’ first fragrance in 1994, a work identified as foundational to the label’s alternative-perfumery identity.
