Marlou

Marlou was founded in 2016 by Briac Frocrain, whose path to perfumery developed from architecture and fashion design into an exploration of the human body, social identity, skin, and scent. The brand gives the body an olfactory place in society through animalic fragrances designed to interact with natural skin odour rather than function solely as clean-smelling masks. Its name comes from Frocrain’s longstanding nickname and carries associations with mischief and the contrast between cleanliness and dirt. Marlou’s first fragrance, L’Animal Sauvage, launched in 2016 and was later renamed Carnicure, with a slight change to the composition. Corpalium, the brand’s first fragrance release since 2019, received an Honourable Mention in the independent category of the 2023 Art and Olfaction Awards; it was perfumed by Stéphanie Bakouche, with Frocrain as creative director. Later creations included Doliphor, proposed by Emma Lehaut, and Héliodose, created with Bakouche.
