Matas Striber
Matas Striber originated in 1967, when Matas introduced its first private-label series with striped packaging for haircare and skincare products. The brand grew from Matas, established in Denmark in 1949 as a chain of independent materialists and brought under a common logo in 1956. Its visual identity drew inspiration from a hairdresser’s sign near Matas’s first design bureau in Copenhagen, with early packages marked by prominent diagonal stripes. Matas Striber is an in-house personal-care family spanning haircare, skincare, bodycare, and related categories, with formulations directed toward avoiding parabens, MI, microplastics, and phthalates while prioritising active ingredients. The range received a new generation in 2006 and a further relaunch with new design and series in 2019. Matas changed its ownership structure in 2007, when CVC Capital Partners became principal shareholder; the company was listed in Copenhagen in 2013, and by 2018 all stores were owned and operated by Matas. During financial year 2024/25, Matas launched Matas Striber in KICKS, bringing the brand into the group’s Nordic beauty-retail network beyond Denmark.
