Maxim De Paris

Maxim’s de Paris began in 1893 as a restaurant founded by Maxime Gaillard at 3 Rue Royale in Paris. Its enduring identity is tied to the site’s Belle Époque setting and Art Nouveau interior, which is listed in France’s historic-monuments inventory. Pierre Cardin acquired Maxim’s in 1981 and developed it from a restaurant into an international luxury brand with licensed activities and products. In 2023, Paris Society took over the operating business, while the Cardin group continued to own the building. The reopened venue presents a restored Belle Époque and Art Nouveau atmosphere alongside a restaurant-and-bar format and revised versions of historic culinary classics. Maxim’s de Paris entered fragrance in 1984 with its eponymous first perfume, a floral chypre created by Dominique Ropion; the fragrance is now discontinued. The line later included Maxim’s pour Homme in 1988 and Orphee in 1998.
