mayfer

Founded in Santander, Spain, in 1969, Mayfer Perfumes is a family company focused on perfumery, cosmetics, hygiene, and ambienting products. It succeeded Simper, a small laboratory created by Simón Cabarga, and was transferred that year to Cayo Merino and María Díaz, who were then engaged. In 1981, Díaz left her purchasing job to devote herself to developing the perfume laboratory and creating original colognes. Mayfer’s creative identity is rooted in emotional and place-based evocation, including the Cantabrian landscape and the smell of freshly cut grass. Its original broad range was narrowed to three especially accepted cologne families—Gotas, Caricias, and Agua Fresca—which later extended into related bath and body products. Gotas de Mayfer is the company’s most demanded product, while the Gotas family is its most emblematic fragrance. The couple’s three children later joined the company and contributed ideas to its next phase.
