Mennen

Mennen originated in the United States in 1878, when German pharmacist Gerhard Heinrich Mennen opened the G. Mennen Apothecary in Newark, New Jersey. Its early identity was built around personal-care and hygiene products, including Mennen Borated Talcum Infant Powder, and later family leadership expanded the business into men’s grooming. The brand’s record includes instant shaving foam, a disposable shaving-cream tube, and Speed-Stick deodorant; William Mennen introduced the first American shaving-cream tube in 1912. Mennen entered Europe in 1944 and launched commercially in France in 1964 with a complete men’s toiletry range, under the slogan “Mennen, pour nous les hommes.” Its public identity centers on men’s hygiene, shaving, deodorant, and personal care. Colgate-Palmolive acquired Mennen in 1992 and sells it globally, while in France Mennen is identified as a L’Oréal brand.
