Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz traces its automotive origins to Carl Benz’s application for a gasoline-powered vehicle patent on 29 January 1886, an event its official history treats as the automobile’s birth certificate. The Mercedes-Benz brand took shape with the registration of its word mark in 1925 and the 1926 merger of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie., bringing together traditions rooted in Mannheim and Stuttgart. Its technical history includes the 1959 safety body, electronically controlled ABS in 1978, and ESP in 1995. Today, the brand combines automotive heritage with electromobility, digitalisation, sustainability, and selected lifestyle, architecture, and sports products. Gorden Wagener materially shaped its creative identity through the “Sensual Purity” design philosophy, defined with him in 2009. Mercedes-Benz announced that Wagener would leave the company on 31 January 2026, ending a period of roughly three decades in which he shaped its design language and house style. The brand entered branded perfumery in 2011 with its first fragrance for men, created with INCC Group and perfumer Olivier Cresp.
