Mick Micheyl
Mick Micheyl was the professional name of Paulette Jeanne Renée Michey, a French singer and sculptor born in Lyon on 8 February 1922 and deceased in Montmerle-sur-Saône on 16 May 2019. She began performing in cabaret in the late 1940s and won Paris’s ABC contest in 1949 with “Le Marchand de Poésie,” a song she wrote and composed. During the 1950s, she performed at major French venues, while “Un Gamin de Paris” became a standard of French popular song. At the end of the 1960s, she moved into television production, presenting a television program in 1970 and producing and presenting a music program in 1973. In 1974, she left entertainment to become a sculptor working in steel; later exhibitions and institutional acquisitions established steel sculpture as the defining later phase of her artistic identity. Her name was also used for two recorded fragrances: Mick Micheyl Pour Femme, a 1999 floral-woody-fruity fragrance, and Mick Micheyl Pour Homme, a 2001 floriental fragrance, both attributed to perfumer Jean-Claude Astier.
