Fragrance house
Mihan Aromatics
Mihan Aromatics was founded in 2017 by Julia Brown and Joshua (Josh) Mihan and is based in Melbourne, Australia. The founders came to perfumery from different professions: Brown was a neurophysiotherapist whose work with scent and memory influenced the brand, while Mihan worked as a hairdresser and barber. Privately held, the company’s creative leadership remains with its founders, who develop fragrance stories with a Melbourne perfumer. Its identity connects fragrance with memory, emotion, personal experience, and Australian places, presenting scents as portals to remembered experiences rather than conventional note descriptions. The first series drew on Melbourne experiences including Edinburgh Gardens and Fitzroy Pool, while a second series focused more broadly on Australian landscapes, flora, fauna, and natural phenomena. Petrichor Plains represents rain falling on dry earth after a hot summer and draws on the founders’ childhood memories of the Australian countryside.
