minus417
Founded in 2003 by Israeli artist and sculptor Moty Fridman, minus417 began as a skincare brand built around Dead Sea minerals and natural active ingredients. Its name refers to the Dead Sea’s approximate elevation, 417 meters below sea level, at the time of the company’s founding. Fridman’s sculptural practice shaped the brand’s creative concept: skincare was treated as preparation of a canvas, with products arranged as a sequential system that begins with preparation. The brand’s early public identity centered on a Precious Mineral Complex combining Dead Sea minerals with vitamins and plant extracts, alongside formulas developed with European chemists and research laboratories. In a 2021 interview, Fridman said investors recruited him to develop and start the company in 2003 and that he became its owner as it grew. The business is privately owned, and its current positioning presents it as 417 under the philosophy “The Skin Frequency,” focused on restoring skin balance, renewal, and clarity.
