Missoni

Founded in Italy in 1953 by Ottavio Missoni and Rosita Jelmini, Missoni presented its first collection under the label in Milan in 1958. The house built its public identity around knitwear, vibrant color, zigzag and fiammato patterns, artisanal tradition, and contemporary experimentation, extending from ready-to-wear into home collections and collaborations. In 1997, the founders transferred the business to their children, while Rosita remained involved with the home collection. Angela Missoni stepped down as creative director in 2021 after 24 years. Alberto Caliri then assumed an interim creative role before Filippo Grazioli was appointed for the men’s and women’s collections in 2022; in October 2024, Grazioli left and Caliri returned to lead Missoni’s creative direction.
