Mochiglow
Mochiglow grew from Jenny Chang’s 2018 experiments with scents inspired by Asian foods, snacks, and drinks, which she first sold as Asian-inspired candles as a side hobby. In 2022, after moving back to the United States, Chang opened Mochiglow’s candle studio full-time in Southern California. The brand was created to address the lack of Asian-inspired scents and to share Asian flavors and food-centered cultural memories through fragrance. Its public creative identity combines original Asian-inspired gourmand scents, nostalgia, representation, and hand-drawn character artwork for its packaging. Mochiglow is family-owned, female-founded, and AAPI-owned, with products made in California in small batches. Its perfumes are original compositions created in-house from scratch by Asian perfumers drawing on cultural experiences, and Jenny Chang is credited as the perfumer behind creations including White Rabbit and Taro Ice Cream. Its Asian-dessert fragrance family includes White Rabbit, a 2023 scent inspired by Chinese milk candy, and Mango Sticky Rice.
