Motif Olfactif

Motif Olfactif is a US-based independent, Black-owned fragrance brand launched in November 2019 by Oswald Paré, who is its owner and perfumer. Born in Burkina Faso, educated in Minnesota, and later settled in the United States, Paré is self-taught. The brand developed from his progression through fragrance exploration and YouTube reviewing into the creation of his own perfumes. Its creative identity draws on memories, locations, family, personal experiences, and the materials Paré studies, with an aim toward wearable fragrances built from distinctive blends. The resulting work connects personal and collective memory with cultural experience. De Toma à Zouma, linked to Paré’s childhood memories and Burkina Faso, provides a clear example of that approach.
