Founded in 1997, the Narciso Rodriguez label presented its first women’s ready-to-wear collection in Milan; Rodriguez established a New York atelier for the eponymous label in 2001. Its creative language is associated with architectural precision, clean lines, balance, modernity, and an emphasis on the female form. Rodriguez received consecutive CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year awards in 2002 and 2003, followed by the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. In 2008, Liz Claiborne completed the sale of certain assets related to its interest in the brand and terminated agreements connected with a 2007 transaction. The fragrance business began in 2003 with for her eau de toilette, created with Christine Nagel and Francis Kurkdjian around Rodriguez’s personal Egyptian musk. The fragrance received the FiFi Award for Best New Fragrance that year, and musk is its defining signature. Later NARCISO and for him collections continued the house’s musk-centered aesthetic. In 2023, the fragrance house marked its 20th anniversary with the launch of all of me. In 2025, Rodriguez described a smaller, more focused practice while continuing private-client work and the fragrance business with Shiseido.
