Nemat International
Nemat International is a family-owned perfumery house rooted in more than 170 years of Indian fragrance heritage, with the Attarwala family tracing its roots to Udaipur, Rajasthan, and its attar-making practice to the area near Haldighati and Udaipur. Around 1940, family business activities moved to Bombay, where Ismail M. Attarwala established Nemat Enterprises; Nemat International is described as a U.S. firm established by the family to extend its Indian perfumery business into the United States. The brand combines traditional Indian attar-making and generational knowledge with contemporary ideas, expressed through alcohol-free perfume oils made with jojoba and fragrances designed to stay close to the skin. Its wider business includes attars, essential oils, fragrance materials, incense, and packaging. Ismail Mohammadali Attarwala is identified as Nemat’s founder and artisan perfumer; he spent 18 years and 96 attempts developing Attar 96 Majmua. Amber is its best-selling skin scent, while Attar 96 Majmua became one of the most popular fragrances in India and was enjoyed internationally.
