Nemat Perfumes

Nemat Perfumes is a family-owned perfumery house rooted in more than 170 years of Indian fragrance heritage maintained by the Attarwala family. The family traces its roots to Udaipur, Rajasthan, where earlier generations experimented with attars in the region’s rose fields. Around 1940, its business moved to Bombay under Mohammadali Attarwala, and his eldest son, Ismail M. Attarwala, established Nemat Enterprises there. The family later extended its attar tradition into the United States through Nemat International. Nemat’s creative identity is grounded in traditional Indian attar-making, expressed through alcohol-free perfume oils with jojoba that wear close to the skin and evolve with body chemistry. Its olfactive families include musk, floral, woody, and traditional-Indian compositions. Founder and artisan perfumer Ismail Mohammadali Attarwala developed Attar 96 Majmua over 18 years and 96 attempts; the fragrance became widely used in India and internationally. Egyptian Musk, introduced in 1991, also gained renewed attention through TikTok-related interest in Egyptian musk.
