Fragrance house
Nerval
Nerval originated as the Paris house of Sophie Nerval. The trademark was reportedly registered in 1961, entered in the commercial register in 1962, and officially opened as a company in 1963. Jacqueline Couturier, a perfumer from a family of perfumers, owned Sophie Nerval until 1987; ownership later passed to Henkel, which last marketed Moschus Exotic Love. The Sophie Nerval brand was deregistered on 29 July 1987. Its recorded releases included Joker in 1978, Musk for Men in 1979, and several Moschus fragrances in 1980. Nerval is especially associated with the Moschus collection, described as successful and popular in Europe during the 1980s and 1990s before its discontinuation. Moschus Exotic Love, launched in 1980, appeared in perfume oil and eau de toilette, while Moschus Mystic Love, also launched that year, was described as a floral-woody musk fragrance.
