New York Yankees
The New York Yankees trace their franchise to 1903, when Frank Farrell and Bill Devery moved the defunct Baltimore American League franchise to Manhattan; the New York franchise was approved on March 12 that year. After playing its first ten seasons as the New York Highlanders, the team officially adopted the Yankees name in 1913. Jacob Ruppert and Tillinghast L’Hommedieu Huston purchased the Yankees in 1915, and a limited partnership headed by George M. Steinbrenner III purchased the franchise from CBS in 1973. The Yankees have won 27 World Series championships, most recently in 2009. Their interlocking NY mark and navy pinstriped home uniform are enduring public identifiers. The fragrance line began in April 2012 with paired men’s and women’s editions. The men’s fragrance combined fresh wood tones with sandalwood and suede, while a 2018 limited-edition bottle reinterpreted the Yankees logo through work by New York graffiti artists Mint&Serf.
