Fragrance house
Nickel
Nickel was founded in 1996 by Philippe Dumont, a former L’Oréal executive, and launched alongside a Paris spa dedicated to men’s beauty care. Its identity combined spas exclusively for male customers with skincare products for men’s specific needs, while seeking to make skincare more approachable and reduce the perception that it was reserved for women. The brand also developed a fragrance line, but Inter Parfums reported disappointing sales for Eau Maximum, discontinued it, and shifted greater attention to skincare in 2008. In September 2013, L’Oréal offered to acquire Nickel from Inter Parfums, with the transaction scheduled to take effect on 31 December; the brand’s activity ended in 2014 after the acquisition.
