Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj’s public creative identity grew out of early-2000s group work and her 2007 mixtape debut, after which she adopted the stage name Nicki Minaj. In August 2009, she signed with Young Money Entertainment as the label’s first female artist. Her 2010 debut album, Pink Friday, combined rap and pop and broadened her audience, while pink-wig imagery, alter egos including Roman Zolanski, and shifts between aggressive rap and pop-oriented material shaped her visual and musical presentation. She entered fragrance in September 2012 with Pink Friday, launched in partnership with Elizabeth Arden. Pink Friday has a floral-musk profile with fruity, floral, vanilla, musk, and woody facets and became the UK’s top-selling fragrance after launch. After Revlon acquired Elizabeth Arden in 2016, Minaj announced a new fragrance partnership with LUXE Brands in 2018. LUXE and Minaj introduced Queen in February 2019 as her first direct-to-consumer fragrance, linking it to her Queen album. A Pink Friday 2 fragrance was announced for December 2023 alongside the album, continuing the connection between her fragrance launches and music eras.
