Fragrance house

Nobile 1942

Nobile 1942 grew from a multigenerational Italian perfumery tradition. The Nobile family’s work in fragrance dates to the 1930s, when Umberto Nobile represented established fragrance houses; in 1942 he opened a perfumery in Rome, and that year later became part of the brand’s name and identity. The business continued through the family, with Umberto’s son Benito opening a perfumery in Naples and another relative opening one in Florence. Massimo Nobile joined the retail business in 1979 and later worked at Chanel before moving into fragrance production. In 2005, he and Stefania Giannino founded Nobile 1942 as an independent continuation of that heritage, shaped by Italian cultural references, lived experience, and historical reading. Pontevecchio, the house’s first fragrance, was created that year and takes its name from Florence; its Florentine iris focus was reformulated at a higher concentration in 2013. La Danza delle Libellule, launched in 2011, became the brand’s best seller worldwide and is part of the Fragranze Supreme collection.
