Odin New York
Odin New York began in autumn 2004, when Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi opened its first boutique in New York’s East Village. The original business focused on men’s fashion, unusual accessories, art objects, books, and personal-care products, with an early identity shaped by Chai’s art-direction background, Birardi’s fashion-retail experience, niche tastes, and a New York sensibility. After expanding to SoHo and the West Village, Odin partnered with German fragrance firm Drom in 2009 to launch its first trio of unisex fragrances, moving from fashion retail into fine fragrance. The fragrance program emphasized choice rather than gender and intimate, nontraditional constructions; it developed into the Black Line and, by 2014, the floral-oriented White Line. In 2012, 06 Amanu won the first FiFi Indie Fragrance Award. Contemporary coverage also identified 04 Petrana among Odin’s most successful fragrances and named it with 02 Owari and 07 Tanoke as leading sellers at Liberty. Today, Odin New York spans fashion, accessories, home fragrance, collaborations, and its fragrance offering.
