Fragrance house
Oleg Cassini
Oleg Cassini opened his own fashion house in New York after returning there in 1950, establishing the brand’s postwar American base. The brand’s public identity was strongly shaped by his work for Jacqueline Kennedy: during the Kennedy White House years, he designed nearly 300 outfits for her. Streamlined dresses, wool coats and pillbox hats associated with Kennedy’s public image helped define an elegant American fashion sensibility. After the Kennedy years, Cassini expanded beyond couture into menswear, ready-to-wear and licensed merchandise, including perfume, sunglasses and wedding gowns. He died on March 17, 2006, closing the career of the designer whose personal work had defined the brand’s most influential creative period.
