Fragrance house
olfictionlabeditions
Founded in 2016 by perfumer Pia Long and fragrance evaluator Nick Gilbert, Olfiction is an independently owned perfumery studio, publisher, and fragrance house. Long and Gilbert started the business without outside funding and co-own it outright. Its work treats scents and stories as inseparable, drawing inspiration from raw materials, personal memories, literature, and entertainment. Long serves as principal perfumer and co-founder; she began training in 2006 and has created hundreds of formulas. In March 2026, Olfiction launched Lab Editions as part of its tenth-anniversary activity, presenting four fragrances selected from about a decade of studio work, including personal experiments, accord studies, and projects first made for press or exhibitions. The collection uses the submission bottles used during fragrance development. Petrolhead reworks Mach-Eau, a project created for Ford, while Salmiakki interprets Finnish salted liquorice in connection with Long’s Finnish roots.
