Fragrance house
One Seed
Liz Cook founded One Seed in May 2009, launching the Australian natural-perfume company from her kitchen bench. Before that, she ran a natural-skincare and aromatherapy retail business in Adelaide; after selling it, she retained three perfume formulas and spent 18 months researching and experimenting with perfumery. Cook remains identified with One Seed as its founder and perfumer, while the brand develops fragrances in-house from plant-derived ingredients and discloses their composition. Its identity combines natural perfumery, transparency, fragrance and wellbeing, and environmental responsibility. In August 2020, One Seed introduced a new visual identity and packaging as part of a broader effort to reach beyond the small natural-fragrance niche. The brand marked its 15th anniversary in May 2024, and after 16 years its public identity emphasized a slower, more intentional approach to releasing fragrance. Freedom, one of the three perfumes launched in 2009, was described as somewhat of One Seed’s signature scent in 2012; its formula remained unchanged in 2024.
