One Way Bridge Perfumes
Founded in 2019 by New Zealand perfumer Elise Walraven, One Way Bridge Perfumes is an artisan perfume house based in the Wairarapa region, where it makes fragrances in small batches. Its name refers to New Zealand’s one-lane bridges and to Walraven’s idea of life moving forward. Her interest in perfumery began at 16 and developed through self-directed study before becoming a professional practice shaped by personal grief and emotional experience. As the brand’s founder and perfumer, she approaches fragrance as an expressive art form. One Way Bridge’s creative identity combines New Zealand cultural references, native botanical materials, and a vintage-inspired aesthetic. In 2021, it introduced a solid-state extrait line developed over two years with New Zealand oils and plant waxes, presented in recyclable cardboard packaging. In 2025, the brand appeared at Esxence in Milan. Haute Horopito, associated with New Zealand horopito and Ravensara materials, is one of the brand’s runaway successes.
