Oscar

Oscar de la Renta founded his eponymous fashion house in New York in 1965. Shaped by his training under Cristóbal Balenciaga and work at Lanvin, the house developed an American identity associated with feminine eveningwear, vivid color, floral motifs, and couture-level craftsmanship. It expanded into accessories in 2001, furniture and home goods in 2002, and the lower-priced O Oscar line in 2004. After de la Renta’s death on October 20, 2014, Peter Copping was named his successor; Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia became co-creative directors in 2016. In September 2025, Vogue reported that Kim and Garcia would step down after nine years, with their final collections expected for Pre-Fall and Autumn/Winter 2026. The house’s fragrance identity is tied primarily to Oscar, introduced in 1977 as its first perfume and described as its distinctive scent. Inter Parfums acquired certain fragrance-division assets in 2013 and holds an exclusive worldwide license, extended in 2019 through 2031.
