Fragrance house
Osswald
Parfumerie Osswald was established by Boris Dreiding in Zurich in 1921 as a family perfumery whose early business included Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein products and was the first perfumery in Zurich to offer Guerlain fragrances. After World War II, his son Jago took over, moved the business to Bahnhofstrasse 17, and added a Salon de Beauté in 1980; after Jago’s death in 1992, Tamara Dreiding continued operating Osswald and commissioned a 1994 redesign organized around approximately 250 perfume bottles. Tanja Dreiding Wallace joined in 2005, opened Osswald’s first international branch in New York’s SoHo in 2012, and took over both locations in 2014. The New York boutique carried the Swiss family-perfumery identity into a curated niche-fragrance setting, pairing hard-to-find lines with staff consultations and Swiss hospitality. Osswald is a specialist niche-fragrance retailer rather than a proprietary fragrance house; in 2012, Profumum Roma’s Acqua di Sale was its best-selling perfume overseas.
