Pacifica

Pacifica Beauty was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1996 by Brook Harvey-Taylor and Billy Taylor. The founders initially built the brand around candles and fragrance, adding scented body butters in 2004 and entering perfume in 2007. Pacifica’s public identity centers on vegan, cruelty-free beauty, compassion toward animals and the planet, intentional ingredients, and climate-conscious packaging. Harvey-Taylor is the brand’s principal creative force, with an aromatherapy background that informs its fragrance development. Fragrance is a foundational category for Pacifica: a 2010 profile identified Hawaiian Ruby Guava and Tahitian Gardenia as top-selling scents, while current fragrance materials describe Tahitian Gardenia among the brand’s iconic scents. In 2024, Pacifica relaunched its fragrance collection with seven scents—four reinvented and three new—framing the range around functional, mood-oriented fragrance connected to Harvey-Taylor’s aromatherapy roots. Pacifica currently states that it has no parent company and continues to be run with the passion of its original founder’s vision.
