Papillon Artisan Perfumes
Papillon Artisan Perfumes began with Liz Moores, who started blending perfumes at her kitchen table in 2010; the business identifies itself as established in 2011. It launched publicly on 24 June 2014 with Anubis, Tobacco Rose and Angélique. Its creative identity is tied to Moores’s personal authorship and to inspirations drawn from history, literary and romantic ideas, nature, people and artwork. The brand’s small-batch perfumes use classical methods, giving each fragrance its own story while reinterpreting perfume classics without formulaic branding. Anubis was Moores’s first perfume and the starting point for Papillon’s journey. Salome, an animalic floral chypre inspired by a 1920s photograph and literary portrayals of Salome, was a finalist for the 2015 Fragrance Foundation Awards and the 2016 Art and Olfaction Awards. In 2024, Moores released Epona, developed from memories of her horse, saddle leather, warm skin and riding through the English countryside. By 2025, Papillon described itself as a family-centered perfumery rooted in the same craft, with Moores as its creative heart.
