Parera Espana
Parera España traces its origins to Perfumería Parera, founded by Joan Parera i Casanovas in Badalona, Barcelona, in 1912 as a family business. The company developed cosmetics and colognes in its own laboratory and operated a direct retail shop, with its strongest growth during the 1920s and 1930s. Its public identity centered on Spanish-made perfumery and cosmetics, spanning colognes, perfumes, cosmetics, and men’s grooming products. Around 1940, it became a sociedad anónima under the Parera España corporate name. Varón Dandy was Perfumería Parera’s star brand and defining fragrance identity, among the earliest Spanish perfumery lines aimed at men. Its range included cologne, lotion, and fixative, and it was sold in many countries, especially in Latin America. In 1990, Perfumería Parera was absorbed by the Benckiser group; after Benckiser’s 1992 acquisition of Coty, Parera products operated under the Coty designation, and Parera España was extinguished in 1994.
