Parfum Satori
Parfum Satori is a Tokyo atelier-based fragrance brand led by perfumer Satori Osawa. Osawa began studying perfumery in 1988, studied under former Firmenich chief perfumer Kenji Maruyama in 1998, opened her own Tokyo fragrance atelier in 2000, and launched the Parfum Satori collection in 2003. The business was incorporated as Parfum Satori Inc. in 2009, with Osawa identified as its representative and perfumer. Its creative identity draws on Japanese seasonal nature and Osawa’s study of ikebana, tea ceremony, and kōdō, with fragrances intended to accompany daily life and harmonize with their surroundings. In 2018, Parfum Satori became the first Japanese independent fragrance brand featured in Perfumes: The Guide, where Hanahiraku was selected among the Top 10 New Accords. On November 13, 2019, the Musée International de la Parfumerie in Grasse added the tea-urn-shaped Satori fragrance to its collection. Satori is the brand’s signature perfume, while MOTHER ROAD 66 helped prompt its incorporation and has been a long-selling item since its original mail-order placement.
