Parfumerie Generale
Parfumerie Générale is a French independent perfume house founded in 2005, although its fragrance project began in 2002. Pierre Guillaume grew up in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne, and continues to operate his perfume business there as an independent perfumer with creative and financial independence in his own workshops. The name Parfumerie Générale plays on Guillaume’s initials, PG, while also referring to his background in the chemical industry. Its numbered collection explores successive olfactory themes, including tobacco, orange blossom, and aromatic flowers. In 2012, Guillaume presented three X.1 fragrances at Pitti Fragranze to mark the house’s tenth anniversary; the concept subsequently became the Signature collection. Cozé, the first fragrance launched in 2002, drew on Guillaume’s memory of his father’s cigar box, and he later described it as representing the brand’s DNA. The work was later reorganized under the Pierre Guillaume Paris label, which identifies Parfumerie Générale as the collection’s former name. In 2013, Pierre Guillaume Paris acquired Phaedon Paris, which entered Guillaume Diffusion.
