Parfums Chloe

Founded in Paris in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, Chloé began as one of the first luxury ready-to-wear houses, offering an alternative to haute couture’s formal rigidity. Its identity grew from Aghion’s vision of relaxed, modern clothing and a free-spirited, effortless idea of femininity. Karl Lagerfeld became sole designer in 1974 and shaped the house’s romantic, carefree 1970s style. In the 2000s, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and Hannah MacGibbon successively expanded Chloé into accessories while reinterpreting its bohemian, feminine identity; Philo’s tenure also brought the Paddington bag, released in spring 2005 and marking the brand’s influence beyond clothing. Chloé entered fragrance in April 1975 with a floral feminine scent, followed in 2008 by Chloé Eau de Parfum, a modern interpretation of the rose that ranked among worldwide best-sellers by 2012. Today, Chloé is a Richemont Maison. In 2023, Chemena Kamali became creative director, and her debut returned to the house’s 1970s essence.
