Parfums du Château de Versailles
Parfums du Château de Versailles originated as a licensing initiative between the public Château de Versailles establishment and the Conservatoire Français des Fragrances et Cosmétiques (CFFC). Signed on 28 November 2011, the non-exclusive five-year license covered perfumes, soaps, essential oils, and cosmetics in specified territories. The initial fragrance line announced for 2012 included Promenade à Versailles Pour Lui, Promenade à Versailles Pour Elle, and Le Jardin de Versailles Pour Elle. Its stated olfactory concept drew on fragrances associated with Versailles, developed by CFFC perfumers near Grasse and expressed through citrus, spice, green, fruity, floral, magnolia, melon, and peach directions. CFFC later marketed additional perfumes under names linked to Versailles, but the Versailles Court of Appeal found those uses unauthorized under the license. The relationship ended when the contract was terminated on 1 July 2015; in 2018, the court confirmed related prohibitions and ordered the Promenade à Versailles trademarks transferred to the public Château de Versailles establishment.
