Parfums Karmic Hues
Parfums Karmic Hues is an artisanal perfume house founded in New Jersey in 2020 by Gagen and perfumer Srivathsa. Its creative foundation brings together Srivathsa’s Indian fragrance background and interest in nature with Gagen’s shared interests in film, nature, and perfume. The house’s handmade perfumes draw on emotional memory and seek to evoke nature in raw, vital, and distinctive forms. Its first collection, The Cosmic Balance, appeared in January 2021, inspired by Indian spirituality and ideas including the soul, samsara, and karma. In May 2022, Rashomon explored differing subjective olfactory perspectives through a two-fragrance collection inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s 1950 film. Americana followed in February 2023, drawing on American culture, landscapes, history, heritage, and artistic spirit, while Blithe Flora, released in September 2023, focused on gardens, flowers, untamed wilderness, and the natural world. Cinema d’Arts, released in September 2024, extended the house’s cinema-centered direction through fragrances associated with directors and films. Rashomon Volume II placed third and Volume I sixth in the 2022 Best American Niche ranking.
