Fragrance house
Parfums Parquet
Parfums Parquet was a Houbigant division rather than a separately documented historic perfume house. Its name was associated with Paul Parquet, Houbigant’s perfumer and co-owner, whose work supplied an inherited olfactory lineage: he created Fougère Royale in 1882, a fragrance credited with establishing the fougère family. The division’s documented public identity emerged through Houbigant’s later American-market fragrance activity; in the 1980s, it relaunched Présence in a new bottle under the Parfums Parquet name. Houbigant filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1993 and entered receivership in 1994. Renaissance Cosmetics, founded that year, subsequently acquired a line of 12 Houbigant fragrances, including Parfums Parquet’s French Vanilla. Licensing arrangements then assigned Canadian rights to ACB and Western Hemisphere rights, except Canada, to a Renaissance subsidiary. In 2005, the Perris family acquired control of the Houbigant fragrance and cosmetics name.
