Parfums Quartana
Parfums Quartana is a New York fragrance house founded by Joseph Quartana. His earlier creative path included founding the avant-garde fashion boutique Seven New York in 1999 and launching the collaborative fragrance project SixScents Parfums in 2008. SixScents paired fashion designers with perfumers to translate visual and conceptual worlds into scent; Parfums Quartana marked a shift toward Quartana’s own authored fragrance concepts. Its debut collection, Les Potions Fatales, launched at Pitti Fragranze in Florence in September 2016, organized around poisonous flowers and the tension between beauty, danger, deception, and transformation. The brand treats each perfume as a unified work encompassing scent, name, bottle, box, image, sound, symbols, and atmosphere. Within that collection, Poppy Soma won The Fragrance Foundation’s 2017 Perfume Extraordinaire of the Year award, while Ierofante later won the Art and Olfaction Institute’s 2023 Independent Category Award, with Luca Maffei credited as perfumer and Joseph Quartana as creative director.
