Paul Emilien

Paul Emilien is the fragrance house created by French perfumer Paul Mathieu, known professionally as Paul Emilien, who was born in 1966 in the Cévennes region of France. With a background in chemistry, he moved gradually into perfumery, first pursuing drawing and painting and experimenting with scents and packaging in a small home laboratory. A 2013 report documented earlier C’Toi by Paul Émilien candle and home-fragrance activity near Montpellier; the house’s earliest recorded editions date from 2014, when a press kit presented its perfumes and home fragrances as a French niche-perfumery project. Paul Emilien’s creative method begins with a real or imagined story and develops the fragrance from it, while the collection was intentionally varied rather than shaped around one uniform scent style. The house was included in the official exhibitor list for Esxence 2018. In 2021, Paul Emilien also created Richness for ByBozo, a collaboration outside his core line.
